Racist Attack

A Peruvian Immigrant who currently lives in Milwaukee suffered from a hate crime which included him getting battery thrown on his face and into his eyes.  The report says that he was in an altercation with a white man and the man took out a metal canister of battery acid and threw it on his face. The man and one other witness said that the man said "go back to your country" then proceeded to throw the Acid at his face.  This is a very unsettling story because it goes to show you that racist people are willing to do something terrible to another person just based off of their racist tendencies.  I also believe that this causes fear in many immigrants and even people of color because they actually have to worry about people like this in our country.  This goes to show that racism in our country is not being handled and I feel like the leaders in this country are not helping because they often say or do things that make these people believe that what they are doing is okay.

Officer Shooting

I remember hearing about Amber Guyger who was involved in a shooting of an innocent black man who she thought was a burglar in her home but it ended up that she walked into the wrong apartment and shot Botham Jean two times in his own living room. Currently she is on trial for murder which makes sense and they have uncovered many unsettling racist texts that were sent by Guyger.  She went on the stand saying that the reason she shot was because she was scared and it had nothing to do with his race but these texts assume other wise. Some texts include Guyger jokes about Martin Luther King Jr.’s death, mocks her black colleagues and discusses a dog that her friend warns “may be racist.”“It’s okay.. I’m the same,” Guyger wrote back about the dog". She also texted one of her coworkers about her other black coworkers saying that "she was with five black officers right now and I'm not being racist but damn they just have different way of working and it shows". This is really disturbing to me because this women is just one of example a blatantly racist people on the police force that already have negative views on African Americans making it dangerous for them.

Racist group chat

Kind of similar to the story I found last week but with this incident I was much more uncomfortable and frightened.  This story took place in North Carolina at East Wake High School and it was about a group chat made by some white students that was only for white students. A freshman Cenayia Edwards who is African American discovered that kids were in this group chat called "Black Slayer". And when she heard about it she pretended to be a white student and she joined the chat and the messages were horrifying. Some of the messages included #BringSlaveryBack, Pulling triggers and shooting n------, Killin n----- babies, were going to kill black kids, and if it aint white it aint right. After reading Cenayia and her family are very frightened because they dont know what these kids are capable of. This goes to show the prejudice that we see daily in the US and its quite frightening.

Racist Vandalism

After reading this it really scares me that this still goes on in 2019, its really distrubing that you see this in the new when this was a constnt many years back. The owner of the restaurant is an African American women and she says she has dealt with things with customers for many years but someone actually going into the bathrooms and vandalising it with racials slurs and threats is just horrifying.  Ever since Terrel moved her restuarant over a year ago people have been constantly racist to her.  She was sayin that she should have to move because of people being hateful and her feeling unsafe, it shouldnt be like that in 2019. This goes to show that this country still has alot of things to overcome and even though people say "oh but we have come such a long way"this is still happening, maybe you dont witness it but it happens. 

Arabian Nights

This story is similar to many stories I hear nowadays. Its always people in the roles of leadership having to apologize for being racist in the past. This time it included Justin Trudeau and how he wore blackface to a party in 2001. He was 29 at the time and he states, "i should have known better but I didnt".  He colored his skimn a dark brown so he could be Aladin during an Arabian nights themed party.  He also said "i didnt think it was a racist action at the time", that goes to show you that iggnorance is basically making it okay that he did this. A grown man almost being 30 should have an idea like hmm maybe this isnt a good idea. This makes me wonder how many leaders were just ignorant and dint care to know what was racist and not in the past, that doesnt make a very good leader.

"My African American"

I don't know if many people remember but in 2016 maybe 2017 a video was circulating and it took place at a Donald Trump rally. Trumps starts to talk about his supporters then straight up points out a black person in the crowd and says "look at my African American". After watching that video I always wondered who that man was that he blatantly pointed out in the crowd and I saw today on the news that Gregory Cheadle was the man that was called out and now he is not a Trump follower due to the years of blatant racism. He said he also is ditching being a republican because of its "pro-white agenda".  Cheadle also says that his friends that are republican are always defending Trumps racist comments and side stepping anything that he says. He also states that people nowadays in the Republican Party have Blinders on regarding people of color issues and he couldn't be apart of something like that anymore.

Trump and the Bahama Refugees

We all know of the hurricane that devastated the people in the Bahamas killing many innocent victims, and our president instead of showing solitary and care to these people chose to slander them. Many people from the Bahamas are seeking refugee after the hurricane blew through and destroyed many homes and killed many people but trump made a comment that said "We have to be very careful," and "very bad people" could be entering this country.  This is not what a leader of a country should be saying at a time where people are suffering and are actually looking for somewhere they can be safe but when they here this they probably feel hate and like they're not welcomed.  I don't know if he thinks no one is listening but this comment has outraged a lot of people because it is just straight up hate and I believe it to be also racial profiling.
